Labiaplasty Is A Need For Some Women

Labiaplasty, the surgery that adjusts the labia minora and labia majora, is for women who want to reduce unnecessary skin in those areas. Some of these issues are genetic meaning the women were born with a deformity which they want corrected. Other women may want their vagina to improve in its appearance. It has increased in popularity recently.

This procedure cuts off a part of the lips which surround the labia minora and labia majora. Some women also have this procedure done to increase sexual satisfaction which is not something most doctors will undertake plastic surgeryto do. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is totally against this operation stating that it is not worth the effort stating that the negatives outweigh the positives.

Women who feel self-conscious about their appearance can ask their doctor for recommendations. If the labia is long, it can cause pain in intercourse. This is one big reason for women wanting the surgery. The vaginal lips are cut using a scalpel or a laser. The doctors decide where to cut according to the woman's labia size.

If women want to heighten their sexual pleasure during intercourse, they may need to have another operation done such as tightening the vaginal wall. This increases pleasure in both partners. Sometimes this area is stretched during childbirth and women desire to have it tighter again.

Many risks are connected to this operation such as an increase in infections, bleeding, numbness, and scar tissue buildup. These reasons are mainly why they discourage the operation altogether. The procedure is done, however, and women have been satisfied with the results.

the operation is also quite expensive. It can run between five and ten thousand dollars, and many insurance companies will not cover it. For this reason, patients who wish to undergo the procedure need to be prepared to pay out of pocket to have it done.

The process will take around two hours once the surgery begins. The operation usually does not require a hospital stay but can be done on an outpatient basis. Patients need to refrain from smoking or consuming alcoholic beverages at least a week in advance of the operation. Aspirin and other blood thinning medications must also be discontinued as the surgery date approaches.

Labiaplasty has its place among women who want to improve their appearance sexually. It may be best to love their bodies the way they are and not engage in risky operations that may help them lose blood and cause an infection. The media has had a big affect on women's body image so hopefully, women will defy that and be strong and do what is best for their body and not what society says they should do.

  1. I'm interested in getting labiaplasty done because I'm really embarrassed about my labia. I know the surgery is expensive, so I was wondering if anyone knows the price range of how much a monthly payment would be? Any information about labiaplasty would be appreciated. Thanks.
